Your mental health and other important matters

Hey, Unlocked.Me fam. It's me, your girl, coming to you live from lockdown! By now, we all know how important it is to stay home, wash your hands and not touch your face!

But it's just as important to care for your psychological and emotional wellness during this pandemic. You may be catching the feels, such as anxiety, impatience, irritability, frustration, powerlessness or just plain sadness, and it's okay!

It's okay to take a news holiday once in a while! While it's important to stay informed, you do not need to start every day off with a cup of coffee and a side of doom and gloom. Take a break once in a while and make your own wellness the priority.

It's also okay to give your body some TLC! You don't have to stay glued to the TV waiting on the newest numbers every second of the day. You're allowed to look after yourself: exercise, eat well, breathe, stretch, hydrate, meditate and even make yourself a face mask.

It's okay to miss the good ol' days! It's important to check your privilege and understand how lucky you are to have a roof over your head and food in your tummy! However, you're allowed to mourn your life before lockdown: going to your favourite restaurant, visiting your friends and family, or even just taking your morning run.

It's okay to say, 'No, I'm busy. I'll get back to you tomorrow.' If you're lucky enough to be working from home, I'm sure you've noticed it's difficult even to take a lunch break without the next conference call chiming in. That's why it's important and perfectly acceptable to outline your working hours to your team and stick by them. To stay mentally well you have to balance your work life and your home life.
