How to bake your cake and eat it too!

My Hustle
My Hustle

Running a side hustle can be hella exhausting. It's so easy to feel demotivated and sometimes you even start thinking about the q-word ('quitting', just in case we weren't on the same page)! I mean, adulting is hard enough as it is. Now you also have to be a boss lady – or man – at work and run a side hustle too? Naaah, fam …

Here are 4 tips on how you can bake your cake and eat it too!

1.That work schedule ain't the boss of you!

I know what you're thinking: 'Well, that's counterproductive'. But being overly strict with your working hours could push you down the rabbit hole of self-destruction and overworking.

Structure a schedule that allows you to build your empire, while spending as much time with your family as possible. Remember that we work to live, not live to work.

2.Drink that cup of hipster coffee!

Create a morning ritual of all your favorite things. Wake up, do some yoga, bask in the sun and drink your favourite blend of coffee while scrolling through Twitter. Whatever your bliss is, chase it and enjoy it. This will set the tone for your entire day. Your family and employees will gain the benefits of this too!

3. Have a break (or vaycay)!

Have you ever stood in the shower and replayed an argument you had in your head over and over again and come up with the perfect response that would have led to total world domination?

Vaycays work the same way – once you take a step back and have removed yourself from work, you gain clarity on issues in your business you would have never seen before. You might even come up with some creative ways to improve the business!

4.Trust in your tribe!

You hired your people because you saw something in them that represented your values; you hired them to help you fulfill your dream. Do not micromanage them – trust them to do their jobs.

Your business is your dream and with a little perspective and trust in other people, you'll get to enjoy the fruits of your labour and enjoy your job at the same time.
