Greetings Fam, oh do we have a treat for you today! If you’re all about keeping your mind, body and soul in check, supporting small businesses, and reaching your potential, then you’re going to love this.

Introducing our foodie obsessions and Instagram grid inspo, Authentic Food Studio! This is a fully Halaal catering company that specialises in healthy wholesome meals that are conveniently packaged to make mindful eating easy for its clients. Authentic Food Studio’s main aim is to create meals that are balanced and flavourful and a pleasure on both the eye and to the palate.

Authentic Food Studio was founded in 2016 and is owned by Shehaam and Rubina. These #BossLadies are sisters-in-law and passionate foodies who love nothing more than experimenting with flavours and developing beautiful, tasty and wholesome dishes. To Shehaam and Rubina, food is their creative outlet and nothing gives them more joy and happiness than seeing people enjoy the dishes they create, especially little kids and people who don’t generally like to eat healthily.

Now more than ever, it’s important to take care of yourself and keep your immunity in tiptop shape! We chatted with the lovely ladies of Authentic Food Studio to get some tips to help you achieve a healthy immune system:

Tip 1: Eat the rainbow! We’re so fortunate to live in a country where we have easy access to a wide array of natural produce. It’s easy to derive vitamins and minerals from fruit and veggies, so try to include at least 5 servings per day in your diet. Our personal favourite this year, especially in light of Covid, has been everything ginger and turmeric. We love it in slowly brewed tea, infused honey and our much-loved ginger, turmeric and noodle chicken broth, which is like a tonic for the soul. The benefits of turmeric and ginger are endless – they ease inflammation, soothe the gut, have powerful antibacterial and antioxidant properties, and are an excellent way to get rid of nausea.

Tip 2: Get rid of the processed junk! Highly processed food is not only bad for your waistline, it also contributes to a number of health issues such as hypertension, diabetes and cholesterol. Avoid it as much as possible.

Tip 3: Balance is key. Not all carbs, sugars and fats are created equal. It is perfectly fine to include healthy carbs (sweet potato, brown rice, etc), healthy fats (olive oil, coconut oil, avocado, fatty fish) and natural sugar (fruit, raw honey) in your diet. The nutritional benefits of these foods are endless and are important for maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Tip 4: Practise self-care! This is for sure the 2020 buzzword! But it’s actually very important to take care of your emotional and physical well-being. Whether it’s taking a long bath or treating yourself to a facial, it’s important to spend time looking after yourself.

Tip 5: Exercise! It might sound clichéd, but exercise really does a lot to elevate your mood by releasing all those happy endorphins. Whether it’s HIIT, resistance training, swimming, running or even a simple walk outside in nature, exercise in any shape or form can do a lot to lift one’s spirit.
