Seriously, tho', boo. Our beautiful world did not get into this scary situation on its own. Being eco-friendly and eco-conscious takes effort, and yes, paper straws can be hella, hella annoying. But if it can save something as small as a turtle, as big as a whale or as important as our planet's future, isn’t it worth it?

Just because we're cool like that, we’ve compiled a guide packed with 10 oh-so-easy ways to be eco-friendlier!

Just close the tap!

  •  Turn off the tap while you brush your teeth.
  • Wash only full loads of laundry, in cold water, so that you save water and electricity.
  • We are pretty blessed down here in SA: Our tap water is among the safest to drink in the world. So, drink tap and avoid those plastic bottles.
  • The dishwasher may make life easy, but it uses tons of water and electricity. Wash your dishes by hand whenever you have the time.

'Lumos Nox!'

We know it's not as simple as swooshing a wand, but always switch off lights in rooms and unplug any devices you are not using. Small changes can make the biggest difference.

Low-flow shower vibes!

Low-flow shower heads save water, and today’s versions offer just as much water pressure.

No, you do not need 50 serviettes for one slice of pizza!

One serviette is enough. This one should be on a need-to-use basis. You do not need to stockpile in case of the apocalypse.

Buy digital tickets!

For anything from movies and plays to airline tickets use your Wallet app and #SaveTheTrees!

Buy a love fern for your home!

Plants (because they are the real MVPs) remove harmful toxins from our air. They also increase the humidity, improve our health and look pretty fine.

Donate clothes you’re ready to break up with!

Donate or recycle all your unwanted clothes. There are plenty of people out there who could use them this winter.

Treat yo’self!

One expensive but durable item is always better than 20 not-so-cool knock-offs. Invest in one really dope piece that’ll last you years instead of months.
